Viva Las Vegas! Our team will be heading over to the USA once again to attend the BICSI Fall Conference.
This conference is designed to provide attendees with plenty of learning and networking opportunities, so be sure to visit AssetGen on stand 1314. We will be demonstrating the latest versions of AssetGen Connect & SysMap software which helps users to understand the physical/logical aspects of their IT environment. You will also get the opportunity to pick our brains on some of the new innovations we have picked up in the world of infrastructure documentation. However the learning doesn’t stop there! You can attend presentations from leaders in the cabling and telecommunications industry and pick up some BICSI CEC’s in the process.
Our own David Cuthbertson will be presenting a pre conference seminar on the 29th September at 13:00-16:30pm, covering how to automate infrastructure documentation. So much money and time is wasted because it is often normal practice to reverse engineer existing infrastructure as there is no trusted documentation. These site surveys, workshops and audits are repeated because any gathered data is often out of date the day after – so even more wasted effort! As most have a limited understanding of what common tools such as Visio can do out of the box – the opportunity for individual and team productivity improvement is huge with just a few hours of awareness. In this presentation we’ll cover practical steps and tips on how to get out of spread sheet chaos and diagram overload, using a combination of standardization, processes and Visio automation techniques. Examples will cover cabling, floor plans, racks, networks, storage and others. The issues David covers will impact infrastructure planning, proposals, project build documentation, capacity management, fault finding, risk management and change control/audit.
